Official Cherokee Nation Website Official Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation Website In 1993, the Georgia General Assembly passed a law officially recognizing three groups as "legitimate American Indian tribes of Georgia"--the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee, Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe, and Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Council (OCGA sec. 44-12-300).
