Old Catoosa County Courthouse Postcard
Old Catoosa County Courthouse
-- Early 1900s
- Shown above is an early photo of the Catoosa County's first
courthouse, which was constructed in 1856 and was used until
the present courthouse was completed in 1939. Originally a two-story
building, shortly after its consturction the local Masonic lodge
received permission to build a third floor for use as a meeting
hall.
-
- The postcard has an April 1, 1918 postmark from Tunnel Hill,
Ga. Because the postcard has a space for personal messages on
the address side (something that was illegal in the U.S. until
March 1907), this photo probably was taken between 1907 and 1918.
