Old Lumpkin County Courthouse
Location: Dahlonega Date Built: 1836 Architectural Style: Vernacular (Early Classical Revival influence) Designer: Ephram Clayton Other Information: Lumpkin County's old courthouse -- located on the downtown square in Dahlonega -- was built in 1836 (see postcard). This structure was used until a new courthouse was completed in 1965, at which time the former courthouse became the Dahlonega Gold Museum. In 2006 the old courthouse was designated as the oldest existing couthouse in the state by the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
