Duncan Clinch

 

Duncan Clinch was born in North Carolina in 1787. He eventually attained the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Army, and fought in the Seminole War in 1835. He went on to serve Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives. He died in 1849; Clinch County was named in his honor the following year.
