U.S. Flag With Olympic Rings Stamp FDC

First Day Cover for the U.S. Flag With Olympic Rings Stamp

Shown here is the special first day of issue cancellation used in Atlanta on April 21, 1991 for the release of a booklet of stamps showing the U.S. flag and the Olympic Rings.. This cancel was only available at first day issue ceremonies on Peachtree St., which was closed for the final day of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival.

The design -- or cachet (ka-shay) -- on the left of this envelope was prepared by the Athens Philatelic Society to create a souvenir of the stamp's release.
