1998 John Fremont Stamp

1998 John Fremont Stamp

On June 18,1998, the U.S. Postal Service reissued the 1898 John Fremont stamp along with eight other stamps originally issued a century earlier to commemorate the 1898 Trans-Mississippi Exposition. The 5-cent stamp in the set shows John C. Fremont holding an American flag atop the summit of a mountain, along with the caption "Fremont on Rocky Mountains." The sheet of nine stamps was released with first day of issue ceremonies at the American STamp Dealers Association Postage Stamp Show in Anaheim, Calif.
