Telfair County - 1839

Telfair County, 1839

(Click to see enlargement of map of Telfair County north of the Ocmulgee River)

Note: The artist coloring this 1839 map did not realize that land lots 1 and 6 south of the Ocmulgee River had been transferred to Telfair County by the legislature in 1819 and 1825. The artist apparently wasn't sure which county the two lands lot were part of, for they were colored a darker green than either neighboring Irwin or Appling counties. Consequently, a yellow tint has been applied to the area in question to show that by 1839, this area was part of Telfair County.
