John Macpherson Berrien

 

John Macpherson Berrien was born in New Jersey in 1781; his family moved to Georgia the following year. Berrien served Georgia as a United States Senator on three separate occasions, was appointed U.S. Attorney General by President Andrew Jackson, and served on the Georgia Supreme Court. He died in 1855; Berrien County was named in his honor the following year.
