OLYMPHILEX '96 July 19 Cancel

As part of its philatelic tribute to OLYMPHILEX '96, the U.S. Postal Service prepared a special pictorial cancel for each day of the show. This cancel was only available at the USPS booth at OLYMPHILEX on the 7th floor of the the Merchandise Mart in downtown Atlanta. Some collectors bought the Olympic Centennial stamp on its day of release and then had postal clerks apply the OLYMPHILEX cancel for July 19 -- creating an unofficial first day cover.
