"A View of Savannah as it Stood the 29th of March, 1734" This engraving by P. Fourdrinier [click to view enlargement] is commonly attributed to Peter Gordon. However, it has been documented that this icon of Georgia history was based on a sketch by London draftsman George Jones [click to view], which in turn was based on a plat (most likely done by Savannah surveyor Noble Jones) presented to the Trustees by Peter Gordon on Feb. 27, 1734. The location of that original plat has never been determined.
