Toccoa River

The Toccoa River originates in Union County, Georgia, flows northwestward for approximately 30 miles before crossing the Tennessee border in Fannin County. After entering Tennessee, the river is called the Ocoee River. It is a tributary to the Hiwassee River, which also orginates in Georgia, and changes names (becoming the Hiawassee) when leaving Georgia. The Hiwassee River is a tributary to the Tennessee River, which takes a winding course before flowing into the Ohio River, which is a major tributary of the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River flows southward into the Gulf of Mexico.
