William Wyatt Bibb

 

Dr. William Wyatt Bibb was born in Virginia in 1781. He attained a medical degree and moved to Georgia, where he became involved in politics, eventually serving several terms as a U.S. Representative and a U.S. Senator. He later moved to Alabama, and became that state's first elected governor. He died in 1820; Bibb County in Georgia was named in his honor in 1822.
