Morris W. H. Collins Jr. Distinguished Practitioner Lecture Series
Well-known scholar Carl Stenberg brought his broad range of experience in intergovernmental relations and public administration to the fourth annual Collins lecture in April. Stenberg is professor of public administration and government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Morris W. H. Collins Jr. was the Vinson Institute's first director and is remembered for his significant contributions to the reorganization of Georgia state government and the establishment of many public official training programs.

2005 Georgia Excellence in Public Service Awards
A select group of state and local officials received Georgia Excellence in Public Service Awards during a ceremony held September 7, 2005, at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta. These individuals not only represent outstanding work in public service but shine as examples for those considering this arena for a career. The awards program is carried out in partnership with GeorgiaTrend magazine.

Saturday with Sonny
The Vinson Institute's headquarters in Athens served as the base for Gov. Sonny Perdue's October 22 “Saturday with Sonny.” During this monthly event held at locations throughout the state, citizens may hold short one-on-one meetings with the state's top official.
