Promoting Excellence in Government
Matching a government's needs with technology solutions helps build more efficient, better-managed, and better-informed operations.
Technology Solutions Made to Order

Information technology solutions developed by the Vinson Institute provide state and local governments of all sizes with the tools they need to realize greater efficiency and make more informed decisions.

The Tax and Expenditure Data Center (TED) helps governments realize these goals by organizing various local government fiscal data and census information, providing a unique resource for Georgia leaders. Revenue and expenditure data on local governments are readily accessible and can be viewed online or downloaded to a spreadsheet for further analysis. In 2009, TED provided data for such projects as a 10-year county revenue analysis, an analysis of local government revenue recovery following the 2001–2 economic downturn, and a 10-year county debt analysis.

When the Georgia GIS Data Clearinghouse was defunded in July 2009, the Institute stepped forward to maintain this valuable resource, which is the central repository for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data in the state. Institute information technology specialists migrated the massive amount of data to the Internet, thereby significantly streamlining the accessibility process for Georgia officials and other users worldwide.

GIS specialists were readily available to train local government staff as they continued to implement and manage technology in their daily operations.
