Corrections Leadership Institute

Department of Corrections (DOC) personnel aspiring to mid- to upper-level management positions have the opportunity to prepare themselves for roles of greater scope and responsibility. Participants in this third-level course within the DOC development program learn through classroom instruction and group activities on topics such as management and leadership, power and accountability, systems thinking, introducing new ideas in your organization, leading groups, group dynamics and group think, change management, ethics, and values, establishing and maintaining credibility, and effective public speaking and presentations.

Over the course of several months, participants engage in self- and team evaluation and complete a project focusing on organizational performance.

Advanced Management Training

Front line managers or supervisors can prepare themselves to grow into middle levels of management in this second course of the DOC development program. Employees learn fundamental skills about leading and supervising others during the five-day, 40-hour program. Topics include management and leadership, self-awareness, communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and problem solving. Participants engage in a case simulation that incorporates and reinforces topics addressed during the training.
