Broad expertise in applied environmental science, regulation, and policy assists local governments and state agencies in revising or updating their environmental regulations and goals or launching new environmental initiatives. Stakeholders are helped with meeting their environmental needs and understanding the policy implications of them.
Environmental Planning
Communities can achieve workable solutions to the environmental challenges that they face such as sustainable land use and development, erosion and sedimentation, waste management, water supply, and environmental vulnerability through the program's planning assistance and facilitated stakeholder engagement.
Training and Education
Practical and valuable background information assists policy makers—including newly elected officials facing new challenges—in understanding the environmental issues and solutions in their communities or in the state. The program creates, leads, and facilitates retreats and classroom-style sessions that bring real world environmental expertise to elected officials and the general public.
