The Legislative Environmental Policy Academy provides Georgia legislators on the House and Senate Natural Resource and Environment Committee with current, objective information on the state's most pressing environmental concerns. Each event is held at a state park and engages lawmakers with presentations from government and industry experts and others. Legislators also benefit from tours of local facilities, virtual tours of facilities around Georgia, and reference materials.

The Institute's Environmental Policy Program coordinates the Legislative Environmental Policy Academy with funding from the R. Howard Dobbs Jr. Foundation. An advisory committee of Institute environmental specialists and business, civic, and environmental leaders work in coordination with the chairs of the Natural Resources and Environment Committees to determine the topics.
