For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Roger Barnes

Public Relations Specialist

Roger Barnes develops content and coordinates production for print and electronic projects to support the public service mission of the University of Georgia. As public relations specialist, Barnes edits, writes, and researches information for the Vinson Institute and the other eight units under the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. Prior to coming to UGA, Barnes worked as a media specialist at Georgia Perimeter College and Fort Valley State University. He has served as a reporter for the Covington News and the Rockdale Citizen newspapers in Georgia and is a former editor of Black Enterprise magazine in New York City.
