For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Roger Nielsen

Public Relations Specialist

As public relations specialist, Roger Nielsen helps to promote the Vinson Institute’s public service mission among its diverse state, local, and international government clients. Nielsen coordinates content production for electronic and print media, helps to develop informational materials highlighting the institute’s outreach projects and services, and writes news and feature articles for UGA and outside publications.

A journalist for 35 years, Nielsen was an award-winning reporter and editor for daily newspapers in north-central Ohio and Athens, Ga., before joining the Vinson Institute team in 2012.
