Information Technology Outreach Services

Ms. Russo currently facilitates and supports data sharing, information access, quality assurance, and related programming efforts at the Information Technology Outreach Services Division of the Institute of Government. With a background specializing in Geographic Information Systems for more than 15 years, she provides support for technical lead and project management efforts related to GIS data development, analysis, and map production efforts. She works with a proficient team that designs and develops applications and evaluates and plans integration and implementation of new technologies to streamline work flow and information access.

Ms. Russo's extensive experience in GIS has served various disciplines promoting research, cost containment, data sharing, environmental protection, public safety, and emergency management efforts at the local and state government levels and in the private sector. At the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Energy she assisted in planning the department's first GIS to manage state-funded active and passive recreation land holdings. In the private sector, she provided consulting and technical expertise and worked with numerous large industrial facilities to map land use and drainage for Emergency Response planning and Hazard Mitigation.

At the University of Georgia, Ms. Russo assisted in the initial GIS migration from desktop to distributed Web platforms for projects supporting economic development initiatives, in addition to prototyping, planning, designing, and building new applications on platforms maximizing benefit. She has provided training in GIS and in Web technologies for professionals and legislators.
