For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Kris Sikes

Fiscal Analyst
Governmental Services and Research

Kris Sikes is a fiscal analyst in the Institute’s governmental services and research division, where she assists the Georgia General Assembly, Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget, and Georgia Department of Audits in quantifying how proposed legislation impacts Georgia’s tax base. Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Sikes taught economics as an adjunct professor at Athens Technical College. She served as a Public Defender in Barrow County, Georgia, for three years and spent five years with BellSouth Telecommunications developing forecast models, preparing business plans, and working to ensure that cost filings complied with federal law. Dr. Sikes is trained as both an economist and a lawyer. She is a member of the Georgia Bar Association.
