About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Feature — Classification/Compensation Studies

Officials in governments of all sizes recognize that implementing a current classification/compensation system is a sound decision legally and financially and can be critical in keeping workers in whom they have invested.

Institute human resource management specialists provide assistance that is tailored specifically to client needs. After a thorough orientation for all employees about the process, the team conducts questionnaires, interviews, and salary surveys of similarly sized governments so that snapshots of each job can be created and accurate job descriptions and market-competitive compensation figures can be developed. Recommended pay plans can be phased in or spread over several years in order to help alleviate implementation cost concerns. Training for supervisory personnel who will be implementing the new system is also provided.
