About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

The Vinson Institute's Applied Demography Program offers tools to approach a large range of population issues by combining technical quantitative approaches with methods borrowed from social or other sciences to dig deep into census numbers and help governments understand how specific population changes project into the future.

Like all the Institute's governmental assistance programs, its demography program can be customized to answer your government's specific demographic questions. The Institute's reasoned, objective approach can help government leaders be ready for a growing school system, plan its water resources, or collect age and education data to attract business and industry.

Through its Applied Demography Program, the Institute can provide the data necessary for government leaders to plan wisely on behalf of their residents.
