About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

State leaders and agency employees at all career phases can gain the tools essential for personal and organizational success through Georgia Leadership Institute (GLI) programs.

Offered by the Vinson Institute through its expanded partnership with the State Personnel Administration (SPA), the Georgia Leadership Institute comprises multiple development opportunities centered on leadership and management training.

Through the Executive Leadership Development Program, Georgia's top state agency administrators learn strategies and tools to shape organizational excellence. GLI’s Middle Manager and Front Line Leadership programs convey the leadership skills important for individuals as they strive to help advance their agency’s mission.

GLI also offers personalized development plans for individual state leaders. Designed to address an employee’s particular needs, the plans include 360-degree feedback surveys, one-on-one coaching sessions, and measurable objectives customized to each participant.
