Civic Education
Active citizenship is an important concept, but how does one teach it? Georgia teachers can learn how to effectively implement performance-based civic education programs by attending teacher workshops offered by the Institute. Educators can also benefit from such initiatives as Civic Mission in Schools and We the People: Project Citizen, the Institute's partners in advancing active citizenship.
Georgia Studies
Teachers can inspire students' interest in Georgia studies with engaging instructional resources like The Georgia Studies Book: Our State and the Nation. The broad array of instructor support materials available makes the book fun and easy to teach, and in-service teacher training opportunities keep educators on top of curriculum requirements for the eighth-grade Georgia Studies course.
Spanish Initiative
In recognition of Georgia's growing Hispanic population, the Institute recently published a Spanish edition of its popular book An Introduction to Law in Georgia. The new text includes a special section on immigration law in addition to the topics covered in the English version. Law-related educational programs for adult immigrants have also been conducted.
Instructional Materials
From state-adopted textbooks to supplementary materials related to Georgia government, law, history, and geography, educators will find everything they need to support and enhance their teaching at the Institute's online store.
