About Us

In 1998, the International Center for Democratic Governance (ICDG) was established by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG) at the University of Georgia to provide governmental training and technical assistance to developing countries and emerging democracies worldwide. The programs and services offered by ICDG were modeled on CVIOG's more than 75 years of experience providing similar support to state and local governments throughout the state of Georgia. Since its establishment, ICDG has managed projects in 10 countries and hosted visitors from more than 20 locations across the globe. With the goal of assisting in the development of more efficient, responsive, and transparent government, ICDG has followed two successful models: working directly with government officials and working with academic, nongovernmental, or governmental entities to develop capacity to train government officials.
