ITOS Resources and Facilities

Contact: Eric McRae, emcrae@uga.edu; 706.542.3442

ITOS is an up-to-date and well-equipped laboratory for GIS production, stand-alone and Web application development, and research. Its technological resources allow clients to benefit from complete technology services.

These facilities include more than 30 multiprocessor Solaris, RedHat, and Windows servers with more than 7 terabytes of disk storage. Backups are performed daily on 1.8 terabytes of data.

Redundancy built into the systems is the key to the reliability offered by ITOS. For example, the database cluster contains multiprocessor clustered servers for MS SQL servers and Oracle RAC servers. These servers have mirrored disk arrays (RAID) that are shared by both servers for fail over support.

Servers are network protected by a state-of-the-art firewall including Demilitarized and several Virtual secured network zones.
