Law and Government Education Project
Finding reliable resources when legal concerns arise can be tough for many Georgia residents, especially those in lower income groups. The Law and Government Education Project was created with the goal of providing ready access to information about common legal issues.
Developed by attorneys and University of Georgia law students, the project consists of a series of 22 tutorials covering a wide variety of practical subjects: marriage, wills and estates, child custody, consumer protection, eviction, immigration, buying a home or automobile, and more.
The tutorials can be viewed in English or Spanish and last approximately 30 minutes each. The information is both narrated and written on the screen, making it accessible for hearing- or seeing-impaired viewers or those with limited literacy.
The Law and Government Education Project will provide a complete DVD set of the tutorials to public venues, such as libraries, that are willing to make them available to individuals. Thanks to support from the Georgia Bar Foundation and the Georgia Civil Justice Foundation, there is no cost for the complete Law and Government Education series. Contact Betty Hudson to inquire about obtaining the series for your area.

As important as having the Law and Government Education DVDs available is making residents aware of them. This press release can be customized and sent to your hometown newspaper to help promote the series in your area.
The Law and Government Education DVDs provide a foundation of knowledge to inform individuals about their legal concerns, but they should not replace the advice of an attorney. Legal information can change rapidly. Only a lawyer should give legal advice.
