Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators
A recognized event on the state's political calendar since 1958, the Biennial provides legislators with valuable time for learning, networking, and exploring state issues prior to the General Assembly session.
Training and Development
Instruction provided to the Georgia General Assembly in the form of training and advanced skill development helps members navigate the world of public service. The Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators provides both an orientation to the legislative process for new lawmakers and timely policy sessions for all attendees. The Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute helps newer legislators gain the skills to be more effective leaders, decision makers, and policy analysts.
Publications
Legislators can acquire information relevant to their jobs through Vinson Institute publications.
Environmental Policy Briefs
The Environmental Policy Program offers a variety of materials including environmental policy briefs to help inform leaders and policy makers on current environmental issues impacting different areas of the state.
Research
Lawmakers have access to timely research covering some of the state's most pressing public policy issues. In addition to conducting ongoing legislative research, Institute faculty and staff can tailor research projects to the legislature's specific request.
Georgia Legislative Intern Program
Each legislative session, the legislature is renewed with the energy and fresh perspectives of approximately 35 interns through the Georgia Legislative Intern Program. The Vinson Institute assists in the selection of UGA students for participation in the GLIP.
