Training and Development
Instruction provided to the Georgia General Assembly in the form of training and advanced skill development helps members navigate the world of public service. The Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators provides both an orientation to the legislative process for new lawmakers and timely policy sessions for all attendees. Now in its third year, the Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute helps newer legislators gain the skills to be more effective leaders, decision makers, and policy analysts.

Legislators interested in keeping up with current governance and policy topics can turn to any number of Vinson Institute publications. Handbooks such as the Handbook for Georgia Legislators, legal references, practical guides, and a journal covering a wide variety of issues are available for purchase through the online store.
Policy Series
Policymakers and the public can find data, analysis, and insight on complex research topics ranging from welfare reform to the state lottery to municipal annexation in the Vinson Institute's Public Policy Research Series notes and reports.
Peach State Poll
Policymakers can stay abreast of their constituents' thoughts on current issues thanks to this public opinion survey conducted periodically throughout the year. The results of the Peach State Poll are available for download as both news releases and full-length reports.
Research
Lawmakers have access to timely research covering some of the state's most pressing public policy issues. In addition to conducting ongoing legislative research, Institute faculty and staff can tailor research projects to the legislature's specific request.

Legislative Reapportionment Services Office
Atlanta's Legislative Reapportionment Services Office has entrusted the Vinson Institute with serving all of its Web-hosting and technical-support needs.
Georgia Legislative Intern Program
Each legislative session, the legislature is renewed with the energy and fresh perspectives of 30 interns through the Georgia Legislative Intern Program. The Vinson Institute coordinates the annual selection of these candidates from public and private colleges and universities across the state.
