More than 200 county commissioners participated in seven different instructional courses during the 2009 ACCG Fall Policy Conference, held in Atlanta October 7–9, 2009. The Vinson Institute partners with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to carry out the training, which enabled participants to meet requirements for both the Commissioners Training Program and the Certified Commissioners Advanced Program.

Laura Meadows, director of the Institute's Governmental Training, Education, and Development Division presented certificates to 86 commissioners who successfully completed the Academy for ACCG Leadership, the 2009 ACCG Mobile Classroom, or the previously mentioned programs. Their names are listed here.

In addition to their involvement with training, Institute faculty also served as moderators and presenters at conference sessions. For example, Rob McDowell, director of the Institute’s Environmental Policy Program, participated in a panel discussion regarding a recent court decision on Lake Lanier as a water supply source for metro Atlanta.

Presentations from "Balancing the County Budget: A Practical Approach to Addressing Budget Cuts in Your County" are available online at ACCG's website. The panel discussion was moderated by Sabrina Cape.
