POVERTY STUDY DIGS DEEP. The Study on Persistent Poverty in the South is moving full speed ahead, with a focus on some 233 counties in 11 southeastern states. Link

GROWING PAINS. The Balanced Growth Initiative presents a review of the “drivers” of growth affecting Georgia communities today. Link

NEW TRAINING TRIO. Three new training and development initiatives are actively involving smaller communities, public works supervisors, and state natural resources officials. Link

NOT SO PEACHY. Georgians voice some unexpected views on privatization, education, and public institutions in the latest Peach State Poll. Link

POLICY NOTES NEWS. Several new Policy Notes provide research briefs on such subjects as revenue measures of the Georgia lottery, how public opinion splits along racial lines, annexation laws, the HOPE scholarship, and more. Link

STRATEGIC NEGOTIATION: HELP IS ON THE WAY. A new summer workshop offers local officials and administrators the tools and techniques for navigating negotiations – in many settings.

SERVICE LEARNING INTERNATIONAL STYLE. The International Center for Democratic Governance is helping coordinate a new service learning opportunity for students. Link
