IMMIGRANT STATUS. Half of Georgians believe that immigration is good for the country, according to a new Peach State Poll release and report.
PRESIDENTIAL PROGRAM. The 30th anniversary of President Jimmy Carter's inauguration will be marked by a special conference cosponsored by the Vinson Institute and will feature a town hall meeting with the former president and first lady.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE. The impacts of both an incorporation and consolidation in DeKalb County are examined by Governmental Services faculty.
OUT OF STATE. Consolidation expertise is also requested in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT. Frontline and field supervisors and managers from six Georgia Electric Membership Corporations have completed an instructional program designed to make their organizations more cost-efficient.
SMART ACCOUNTING. It was graduation time recently for 132 state government employees who completed the Institute's financial management primary accounting series.
BUILDING BRIDGES. The Southeastern Conference for Public Administration offered sessions of value for both academics and practitioners.
RETIREMENT SAVINGS. A new policy note examines the growth of defined contribution plans as the primary employer-pension vehicle.
COUNTY VIEWS TODAY. A new survey from the Institute's National Center for the Study of Counties reports that county leaders rate the economy as better than does the general public and better than in past polls of county elected officials.
INTERNATIONAL UPDATE. A delegation from a prestigious institute in Kazakhstan counts on Georgia for public administration instruction. Meanwhile, the Chinese municipal training program moves ahead. In other news, Jennifer Frum is named interim program director of the International Center for Democratic Governance.
