INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH. Liberian National Assembly members committed to rebuilding their country after a lengthy civil war are receiving training in effective governance from the Vinson Institute.

THE PRISON PIPELINE. The first statewide conference of its kind brought together officials, practitioners, and faculty to discuss how Georgia's children are impacted by the criminal and juvenile justice processes.

AT THE PIER. The estimated economic impact of reduced recreational boating due to deteriorating conditions of Georgia's portion of the intracoastal waterway channel is explored in a new study by the Vinson Institute and UGA's Marine Extention Service.
NEW IN THE OFFICE. More than 200 new county officials are now better prepared to serve their communities after a comprehensive orientation program in Athens.
HISTORIC PRESERVATION. The historic resources Web site developed by Institute specialists is featured in Georgia magazine.
USS VINSON DELEGATION. The Vinson Institute recently hosted a second delegation of officers and crew from the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier.
PUBLICATIONS SPOTLIGHT. Articles in the new issue of State and Local Government Review explore bureaucratic and public attitudes toward environmental regulation, cross-state variation in Medicaid support, acceptance of local government transportation sales taxes, and more.
