About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Contact: Courtney Yarbrough, yarbrough@cviog.uga.edu; 706.542.6221

A high quality poster displaying all of Georgia's state flags, as well as electronic images for media use, are available.

James Ledbetter, director of the Vinson Institute, presented framed copies of the poster to Governor Sonny Perdue and the House and Senate leadership at a ceremony on February 5.

The poster was developed last fall for general distribution by Vinson Institute Publications Program staff and faculty member Ed Jackson, who is widely respected for his knowledge of the history of Georgia's state flag. Jackson provided assistance to the Georgia General Assembly in 2003 during its lengthy debate over a new state flag.

The poster is free and can be ordered from the Vinson Institute's Online Store.
