About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

Spotlight: ASPA Personnel Administration Section Awarded Presidential Merit Citation

The Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations (SPALR) recently received a 2004 Presidential Citation of Merit from the American Society for Public Administration. The award is given in recognition of the section's efforts to "foster a greater understanding of cutting-edge issues through its annual symposium held in conjunction with ASPA's national conference."

The SPALR is chaired by Steve Condrey, director of the Institute's Human Resource Management Program. Institute faculty member Carl McCoy serves on the section's executive committee, and staff members Jason Fleury and Dan Lasseter are active in helping plan section activities.
