The Institute's comprehensive training initiative for Chinese public managers was included in a special Senate resolution presented on China Day at the state capitol on Monday, February 12. The resolution, sponsored by Sen. Judson Hill, third row, far left, commended the International Center for Democratic Governance (ICDG) for "fostering strong ties between Georgia and China through governmental training and technical assistance on an annual basis." In attendance were Jennifer Frum, ICDG interim director, far right, second row; and Mr. Li Liansheng, counselor of governmental affairs from the Chinese embassy, second from right, first row. Also present were ICDG representatives Rongrong Liu and Jianfeng Wang (not pictured).
Since 1999, the International Center has provided instruction and training to more than 500 junior and senior level public managers from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, and Qinghai. Instruction is held at locations in China and during delegation visits to the United States.
"The Senate resolution that I sponsored recognizes the work of the International Center in forging educational and political linkages between Georgia and China," Hill explains. "These relationships will be critical for Georgia as it develops future economic and cultural ties throughout China."
