For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. The Institute's Governmental Training, Education, and Development Division (GTED) is partnering with the Georgia Public Library Service to offer a new management and leadership development program called PINNACLE. Participants will be selected from nominations submitted by their peers and supervisors.

PINNACLE is modeled after the nationally recognized Management Development Program for Georgia Local Governments that is administered by GTED. The multipart curriculum culminates with participants completing a self-directed learning project applying lessons learned to a significant issue in their workplace.

"All organizations, including libraries, are experiencing tremendous turnover rates due to the retirement of baby-boomers," explains GTED faculty member Walt McBride. "Part of the focus of this program is to prepare the next generation of leadership in the library system."
