More than 1,060 city elected officials participated in the 17 different instructional courses offered prior to the start of the June 2007 Georgia Municipal Association convention in Savannah. This represents the highest number ever for training attendance at the event, according to Gordon Maner, local government instructional programs director for the Vinson Institute, which coordinates the classes in partnership with GMA.

Maner added that the number of courses offered at the 2008 convention will be expanded to 18, which will create a greater opportunity for additional municipal elected officials to receive the training they need.
