Twenty members of the Georgia Association of Tax Officials recently participated in a new leadership program developed by Vinson Institute training faculty. The Executive Leadership Institute is a 30-hour residential leadership program for county tax commissioners and their deputies and is limited to 25 participants. The emphasis is on the development of both the interpersonal and management skills needed for effective work in the increasingly complicated and multifaceted tax environment.

Vinson Institute faculty member Catherine Bennett was the lead instructor for the new program, which was held September 30 through October 5 at St Simons Island. Topics covered included human resources and personnel law, managing customer service, leadership styles, conflict management, and ethical decision making.
