Contact: Harry W. Hayes, hayes@cviog.uga.edu; 706.542.6215
Harry Hayes, Vinson Institute faculty member and local government services project manager, has been selected as a member of the inaugural editorial advisory board for the International City/County Management Association's publications program, called the ICMA Press.

The 24-member board was created to strengthen the presence and relevance of the ICMA Press in today's local government world, according to an official announcement. The program develops both practical materials for local government managers and college-level public administration textbooks.

Members of the new advisory board represent academics and practice and reflect a range of backgrounds, geographic regions, and age groups. Their responsibilities will include providing input on local government trends; suggesting ideas for publications content, media, and format; and reviewing publications proposals.

"ICMA book series have been a mainstay in all aspects of local government management," notes Hayes. "I look forward to helping ICMA continue the tradition of publications and materials that are relevant to practitioners and students of local government." Hayes, who was appointed for a three-year term, also has more than 20 years of experience working in Georgia local government prior to joining the Institute.
