Registration is open until January 25 for the workshop, "Strengthening Georgia: Policies that Support Refugees' Path to Becoming Successful New Americans", to be held January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Maloof Auditorium in Decatur.
The program is especially designed for refugees and the agencies that serve them, social and health service providers, policy makers, educators, and advocacy groups. Sessions will be devoted to such topics as current Georgia refugee issues and initiatives, education policies, and the impact of the English Only proposal. Training in effective communication of refugee concerns will also be provided.
The workshop is a collaboration between the Vinson Institute's International Center and the Refugee Family Services organization. The registration cost is $10 (lunch provided). Questions? Call 678-984-7117.
