About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

The Institute recently hosted two visitors from Uzgorod University in Ukraine. Nick Palanchak, dean of international relations, and Svitlana Slava, professor of management, met with faculty March 11-13 to talk about public administration training initiatives. For more than 14 years, the Institute has provided instruction and assistance to Uzgorod faculty as they have established a comprehensive public administration education program for city and regional managers.

While here, Palanchak and Slava presented an honorary doctorate degree to Vinson Institute faculty member Steve Condrey, who has worked closely with the Uzgorod project. The three recently made a presentation on Ukrainian public management reform at the annual convention of the American Society for Public Administration and presented research on sustainable economic development at a conference in London, England.
