The International Center recently hosted two Polish government officials in a visit sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Rafal Jurkowlaniec, governor of Lower Silesia, and Norbert Obrycki, marshall of Zachodniopomorskie Province, were on-site to learn about how state and local governments function and how public service organizations like the Vinson Institute help them do their jobs better.

"We discussed professional development and regularly scheduled training for local officials. Although Poland is a model of good governance, our guests noted the need for an organized system of instruction in public administration best practices that would also contribute to greater accountability on the part of local officials," said Mike Beck, International Center director.
