Vinson Institute survey research specialist Kelly Foster has been elected to the executive council of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), the leading national organization of public opinion and survey research professionals.

Elections for all posts on the AAPOR executive council are very competitive nationally. Foster's election marks the first time that the University of Georgia has been represented at this level within the organization. She will serve as associate membership and chapter relations chair.

Foster specializes in survey research design and analysis and manages large-scale projects within the Institute's survey research unit. She was recently involved in the first comprehensive survey of the nearly 5,000 center-based and family child care providers in Georgia. The responses from that survey constituted the data for a detailed economic analysis and yielded current information about the industry overall.

"I am honored by the election results. The training and networking that I have received as an AAPOR member have enriched my career and enabled me to gather new ideas to be implemented in the survey research services provided by the Vinson Institute. I am excited about the opportunity of becoming even more involved at the national level," Foster said.
