The second round of the Shanghai Executive Training Group Program has provided its five participants with the chance to enhance their public administration knowledge and skills through a range of experiences. The program is a partnership between the Vinson Institute International Center and the Shanghai Education Center for Administrators.

The five participants arrived in Athens, Georgia, on August 16, 2009. They spent the next six months attending public administration-related classes at the University of Georgia, interacting with state and local government officials, and completing an internship in a government setting, reported Jienfeng Wang, International Center faculty member. The group also spent time visiting government entities in Washington, D.C.

The participants represent a range of units and were selected for their potential as future leaders. They are Chu Min, director of research development, Shanghai Youth Federation; Ke Qinfei, graduate school dean, Shanghai Education Center for Administrators; Ji Ying, metro news chief, Xinmin Evening News; Xiao Wei, deputy director, Committee of Economy of Jiading District Government, Shanghai; and Zhang Jin Hua, vice director, Pudong New Area Social Development Bureau, Shanghai.

“This program has provided us with many valuable tools for broadening our vision of what we can accomplish for the city of Shanghai,” noted group leader Chu Min at the closing ceremony held on January 29.
