About Us

For more than 80 years, the Vinson Institute has worked with public officials throughout Georgia and around the world to improve governance and people's lives. From Georgia's early days as a largely agrarian state with a modest population to its modern-day status as a national and international force in business, industry, and politics with a population of almost 10 million, the Institute has helped government leaders navigate change and forge strong directions for a better Georgia.

As fall semester gets under way at UGA, three undergraduate students are already hard at work through the Vinson Institute Fellows Program. Allison Leigh, Kristin Moreaux, and Sabrina Ragaller will spend this semester as interns at the Institute, getting an inside glimpse of the workings of state and local government and gaining valuable experience in preparation for careers in public service.

Each of the fellows has been paired with a faculty-mentor in the Institute whom they will assist with their work. By the end of the semester, the students will have produced final projects related to their areas of study that they will present to Institute faculty and staff at a reception.

Allison Leigh, a third-year political science major from Lilburn, will work with Rob McDowell in the Environmental Policy Program.

Kristin Moreaux is a senior political science major from Griffin. She will assist Warren Brown in the Applied Demography Program.

A double major in international affairs and economics, Sabrina Regaller is a senior from Henderson, Nevada. She will work in the International Center with Rusty Brooks.

The Vinson Institute Fellows Program will soon begin recruiting a new cohort for its spring internship. Through a partnership with the UGA chapter of the Roosevelt Institution, most (but not necessarily all) of the participants in the spring class will be selected from the top performing students in the current Roosevelt Scholars course.

Undergraduate students interested in participating in the Vinson Institute Fellows Program should contact Mary DuPre at internships@cviog.uga.edu for more information.
