More than 200 county officials took advantage of training customized to their levels of experience during the 2011 Capitol Connection Conference held recently in Atlanta by the Association County Commissions of Georgia (ACCG). The Vinson Institute partners with ACCG to carry out an extensive program of training and development.

Topics covered included financial management, strategic planning, human resources, board leadership, public safety, and getting involved in advocacy.

“County officials are committed to improving their communities. We are sensitive to their busy schedules and make every effort to ensure that their time is well invested in developing the skills they need to be successful,” said Laura Meadows, director of the Institute’s governmental training, education, and development services.

As in previous years, the conference also included legislative updates and remarks by top state elected officials.
