The City of Bainbridge is moving toward creating a more convenient and efficient real estate parcel map system with the help of geographic information systems (GIS) experts from the Institute's office of Information Technology Outreach Services (ITOS).

ITOS will spend the next five months scanning the City of Bainbridge's paper tax maps and aligning them with aerial photographs to create digital parcel maps. ITOS will then populate the digital maps with zoning, historic district, voting district, future land use, utility, and road centerline data.

Online mapping technology provides residents with a more efficient and convenient way to find answers to their questions about land parcels without having to ask city officials to pull parcel maps. It also allows city officials to access parcel details more conveniently.

ITOS makes advanced technology available to governments, organizations, and communities through software development. Its GIS solutions can organize digital geographic data into a functional and adaptable format that enhances organizational decision making.
