The City of Warner Robins has a new job classification system and compensation plan as the result of a study performed by the Vinson Institute's human resource management unit.

During the study, Vinson Institute human resource management experts surveyed and interviewed Warner Robins city employees to evaluate the major aspects of each employee's job and their work environment. They then reviewed position descriptions using a job evaluation system that considered such compensable factors as knowledge required by the position, supervisory responsibilities, job complexity, and job scope and effect. Finally, the Institute team compared current salaries of Warner Robins employees with those of employees in comparably sized municipalities.

As a result of the study, the City of Warner Robins has adopted a new job classification system that will allow it to compete for top talent with similarly sized area cities.

"The study serves as the basis for modernizing a job classification system that had not been evaluated in some time and was creating challenges in attracting and retaining the best possible employees," said program coordinator Alex Daman.

Governments call on the Vinson Institute's human resource management experts to ensure that pay scales meet current standards, carry out executive searches, or establish valid and fair promotional testing.
