Vinson Fellows Present Results of Spring Semester Internships
UGA undergraduates Heather Hatzenbuhler and Nick Eberhart concluded their semester-long internships through the Vinson Institute Fellows Program with presentations to Institute faculty and staff on April 25.
Hatzenbuhler, an environmental economics and management major from Lawrenceville, worked in the Institute's Environmental Policy Program with mentor environmental sustainability analyst Jason Evans. Through case studies on two Georgia biofuel companies, Hatzenbuhler analyzed the effect of current federal and state energy policies on Georgia's bioenergy industry.
Eberhart, an international affairs and economics major from Lilburn, worked in the Institute's International Center under the guidance of associate director Rusty Brooks. His presentation illustrated the stunting effect that rampant government and corporate corruption surrounding Nigeria's oil industry is having on the country.
The Vinson Institute Fellows Program provides opportunities for high-achieving undergraduate students to enhance their learning while gaining valuable experience in preparation for careers. The Institute works with the UGA Honors Program and the university's chapter of the Roosevelt Institute to select the fellows for each spring semester cohort. The fall internship is open to all UGA undergraduates.
